Aegean Airlines promo 20 GBP of return flight.

I have eye on Aegean Airlines because every year I need to take 4 one-way flights with them to retain my Aegean Gold status (Star Alliance) and earn 12000 Aegean Tier miles. Basically I travel to Warsaw 4 times per Year with them and one trip give me 3734 Tier miles.

I notice that currently they have promotion code 20Aegean which can be used on return flight booked at their page.

I found out what You can travel to IST for 107.54 GBP using this code, and You can earn 3042 Tier miles.

I will write post about easiest way to get Star Alliance Gold status with Aegean. I’m Gold with them since 2014. Sadly I cannot use this promo for flights to Warsaw, because you cannot book this route (I use kayak or momondo to book it).

transfercar – take advantage of free rental car…

Thinking about holidays with family and You don’t want to stay a hotels but feel free and for free…You can in Australia,New Zealand or USA.

I just started planing holiday in Australia and found transfercar which I read before. Generally it website which allow You rent for free car with catch, You must transfer car from one city to another. What about 2000km across east Australia coastline in 13 days….Yes it adventurous and can be life time trip.,,

Allow You to book a car for almost free, You have to pay insurance but if You have Amex Platnium card, when You have already insurance. If You stack in Sydney and have to go to Melbourne last minute it can be costly without miles, but now You can drive there, good for families as well because you can visit on the way some tourists spots. You also had to pay deposit and if You cancel you had to pay some compensation for no show.

Sometimes you have even free petrol, toll and some expenses covered by rental company. But generally its for last minute adventures, because You can book car up to one month ahead. So if You are flexible this is very good offer, I wonder how my family will react for this….

Amazing fly over 24h in ANA/Asiana First class for 60000 Aegean Miles. You can buy them for 1500Euro….

Thanks for flyertalk forum, I found out this amazing deal. You can Fly ANA First Class for 60000 Aegean Miles. You can find it only on this routing working both ways LAX-HND-LHR-FRA. It’s 2 flights over 12 hours, business class is 45000 Miles, economy 30000 Miles.

If You start in London You have to pay ADP tax so it’s more expensive (Taxes for economy is 385 Euro).

You can also find Asiana First class on routing FRA-ICN-LAX.

Aegean Miles+Bonus is my main star alliance program, because its easy to get Gold card with them and keep it. You can buy up to 50000 Miles with them per membership year, sometime they have also bonus 40-50%, but last November they had 100% bonus, so You could buy 60000 Miles for only 750 Euro and with taxes in theory is possible to book this deal under 1000 Euro.

Aegean Miles+Bonus allow search redemption only if You have enough milers in Your account.

Why You should collect points – beginner Guide for Avios

Avios air miles is like currency. Airlines program which use Avios Miles:

British Airways Executive Club

You can transfer Avios between British Airways and Iberia. Note, Combine My Avios does not apply to Household accounts. In near future. If You want transfer to Iberia Plus account, your account must be 3 months old and have earned at least 1 Avios point. You can transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, credit a flight or hotel stay, or make purchase via ibplusstore for example purchases earn 5 Avios points per 1 Euro (till 31 March 2019 is 13 Avios per euro

You can earn British Airways Executive Club points by (every week I will cover one way of getting points so this list will be bigger post and with links to my other posts):

  • British Airways flights or any one world alliance flights, plus Alaska Airlines and Aer Lingus – you should check to know how many points you can earn
  • transfer from American Express Membership Rewards, Tesco Club Card, Heathrow Rewards
  • staying at Ba Hotel partner –
  • booking with British Airways Holidays
  • renting a car with Avis
  • taking a credit card (BA American Express blue or Premium)
  • shopping online at (check their special offers for extra points)

How many Avios points I need for a flight?

4000 points You can book one-way off peak economy flight from London to Zone 1 (Amsterdam,Berlin….) plus 17.50 GBP taxes, perfect If you need flight today then flight cost can be in 326GBP (flight to Berlin BA980) and the same flight is possible to book using Avios.

Flights from London to Europe have very law taxes using miles just 17.50 oneway for Economy or 25GBP for business. If You consider flights outside Europe You will have pay big taxes on BA redemption sometimes more than price of economy ticket.

USA from Australia/New Zealand – using Alaska Airlines miles

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan how one think which beats other programs, free stopover during Your reward trip. You can stay 1 day or more at city during your reward trip.

For example You can do

Aucland-Perth stepover-JFK for just 55000 Miles in Business or 40000 Economy. You can fly via NAN (Fiji) with stop where also for 55000 Miles but it’s hard to find Business seats on NAN-SFO/LAX route.

You can also fly Qantas I could even find First Class seat on MEL-LAX Qantas 93 service and You need 70000 miles.

It’s possible also fly American Airlines First Class for 70000 Miles but I couldn’t found availability between Australia and West Coast in First.

Athens – airport mini guide ATH

Today I’m on mileage run to secure again Aegean Gold card for next year. I need to collect 12000 Tier Miles with 4 flights. I booked LHR-ATH-WAW-ATH-LHR which will take 24 hours to complete and give me 3734 Tier Miles (including Aegean Gold status bonus). Not bad for 120GBP ticket which was hand luggage only but I could check in one bag due my Star Alliance Gold card.

It’s not first time when I doing this run and during last 3 years I notice many improvements at Athens Airport. They are on going refurnishing on main terminal. Athens airport is one building terminal which is divided for zone A gates for non Schengen Area flights south side of building and B gates Schengen Area in north of building.

I arrived from London just before 4 am and cleared emigration very quick, I notice new baby room at baggage claim area good for family to change nappies and rest in friendly room. I exit customs and just take lift one level up to departures area. My flight to Warsaw will be just before 9 at B gates so I had almost 5 hours to try sleep in Lounge.

At B gates You have 4 lounges

  • Aegean Business Lounge B
  • Lufthansa Business Lounge
  • Goldair Handling CIP Lounge B
  • Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge

First two You can access flying if you have flight with Star Alliance airline and have Gold card or business class ticket, last two I could access with priority pass.

At A gates you have 4 lounges:

  • Aegean Business Lounge A
  • Swissport Executive Lounge
  • Goldair Handling Lounge A
  • Skyserv Aristotle Onassis Lounge

First one You can access flying if you have flight with Star Alliance airline and have Gold card or business class ticket, last two I could access with priority pass.

In my opinion the best lounge for Priority pass holder is Goldair Handling Lounge A. It big and very quit lounge. There You can rest it was only 5 people inside then I went there.

One thing I don’t like at all at ATH airport, You cannot take shower at any lounge. I don’t know why they didn’t fit shower especially that Aegean spent money to refurnishing B gate lounge and build new lounge in A gate zone. Goldair Handling Lounge A is also new lestwhan 2 years old and build from scratch.

This pages You should know and use

During 5 years of reading about flying I still use some pages the most where are:

Statusmatcher – at this page You can find which airline/hotel/car rental program status could You give status at another program. For example I found out to matching my Aegean Gold Card to LATAM Platinium card (one world) which gave me benefit to visit First Class One World lounges then I had only silver card with BA. I just had to write email and I was lucky what I had one flight with Latam airline in last 12 months.

WhereToCredit is the way to find out where I should credit flights when I fly new airline, sometimes You can get 100% more miles if You do maths, but always be in mind of redemption what You looking for.

Awardwallet – at this site You can check all Your points and miles balances, even You will get notification when some miles will expiry.
